Inter set 100m Icardi clause
By Football Italia staff
Reports are growing that Mauro Icardi will sign an Inter contract extension with a 100m release clause.
The striker had been the subject of offers around 60m from Napoli, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea this summer, while Juventus were also interested.
According to multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, a decision has been made to extend his contract to June 2021.
Icardi is set to earn in the region of 5m per year.
The big difference will be the introduction of a release clause, allowing the striker to leave if a club pays the right price.
It was reported earlier this morning that the sum would be between 80m and 100m.
Now Sky Sport Italia and others suggest the final figure will be 100m – almost a world transfer record.
