Chivu ‘sees Inter potential’
By Football Italia staff
Cristian Chivu commended Roma and Inter for putting on “a really good game” at the weekend but hinted the Nerazzurri had the more potential.
Roma beat Inter 2-1 on Sunday to move up to third in Serie A and leave their opponents down in ninth, but despite the Beneamata’s defeat, Chivu saw enough from his former side to suggest they could have a successful season.
“The match was really beautiful, although it could’ve ended with a bigger result in regard to the chances,” the ex-defender told Sportitalia.
“They’re two teams still looking for balance. Inter are still finding difficulties, but I saw their potential. I can say that they’ll make life difficult for others.
But does Chivu believe Frank de Boer will succeed in trying to implement his Ajax philosophy at Inter?
“I think so, but they must still find balance,” he added.
“When they manage to find it, they’ll have fun. He’s a Coach who comes from a different culture.
“It’s always difficult to integrate into Italian football, but De Boer is a smart guy.
“Joao Mario? He’s settled in well. He’s yet to adapt fully to Italian football but he seems like a great guy.”
