Icardi: 'Italian Coach better for Inter'
By Football Italia staff
Mauro Icardi supports the choice of Stefano Pioli for Inter, as “it’s better to have an Italian tactician who already knows Serie A.”
The Nerazzurri beat Crotone 3-0 with the captain providing a brace and an assist for Ivan Perisic under caretaker manager Stefano Vecchi after Frank de Boer was fired.
“It’s a victory that gives us the breathing space needed to prepare for the derby,” Icardi told Mediaset Premium.
“I do my job, which is to score goals, and Perisic was also on target today. Everyone realises the situation and the moment we’re going through. We need to do well.
“We needed a victory today, we played well and spent the entire match in their half.”
What does Icardi make of Pioli being most likely the next Inter Coach?
“If an Italian tactician arrives it’ll be better, because he already knows Serie A. We’re almost at Christmas now, there’s no time to lose.
“Qualifying for the Champions League is still the objective, we’ll see where we are in May.”
