Coutinho: ‘Too shy at Inter’

Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho admits he was “really shy” when he joined Inter.

The 24-year-old joined the Nerazzurri from Vasco da Gama for 4m, but failed to make an impact and was sold on for 13m.

“It was definitely difficult,” Coutinho told Sky Sports UK.

“I was really shy when I was back in Brazil so coming to Europe was very tough. I was arriving as a kid fresh from Brazil into a big team like Inter with a lot of star names.  But I feel so much better now.”

Coutinho also revealed that Lucio was “really helpful” after his move to San Siro, where he scored five goals in 47 appearances.
