Miranda: ‘Scudetto still possible’
By Football Italia staff
Inter defender Joao Miranda insists winning the Scudetto “is not impossible”, and wouldn’t play for Juventus.
The Nerazzurri are nine points off the top of the table, with Juve having a game in hand, but the Brazilian isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet.
“Our goal is to finish as high as possible in the table,” Miranda told Serie A’s official TV channel.
“We know it will be difficult to finish top, but as long as it’s possible we have to aim for the summit without losing sight of the fact that our goal is to qualify for the Champions League.
“I think we have good players, but tactically we were missing something [before Stefano Pioli’s arrival]. Pioli brought what we needed as a team, making us strong tactically and mentally.
“He’s making sure that all our great players play together as a team.
“Years ago, Juventus went through a period of transformation. Now they’re a strong team, because their fans were willing to accept that process. They also knew they’d take their opportunity when it came.
“I think Juve will remain a good team for a long time, because they’re well-managed by a club which expects the best from its players and management.
“So yes, I see Juventus as a very strong team, but I think Inter can reach Juve’s levels. We have the quality to do it.”
Would Miranda ever sign for the Bianconeri?
“It would be difficult for me, Inter have always treated me well, that goes for the fans and the management.
“Inter have welcomed me like a son and I’ve been treated well by both the fans and the directors. Inter certainly have a place in my heart.”
