Medel: 'Apology to Inter fans'
By Football Italia staff
Gary Medel apologised to Inter fans after their 1-0 defeat to Genoa, which saw them practically wave goodbye to Europe.
The Nerazzurri were caught in seventh place by Fiorentina today, three points adrift of Milan, who host Roma tonight.
“We apologise to all the Inter fans, because they do not deserve this,” Medel told Mediaset Premium.
“We will try to give our all in the remaining games this season. The objective is Europe, but it’s no longer only up to us, as we have to rely on other results too.”
This week Danilo D’Ambrosio said Inter’s slump was because they “let go” after the draw with Torino effectively ended their hopes of a Champions League spot.
“Admittedly, some results really disappointed us and psychologically we let go. We have to recover our mental strength and prove we deserve to be at Inter.”
The Nerazzurri have amassed just two points in the last seven rounds, since their 7-1 mauling of Atalanta.
