Del Piero: Penalty On Ronaldo? It Wasn't
Juventus forward and captain Alessandro Del Piero re-opened some old old wounds as he gave his point of view on the infamous penalty which was not awarded to Ronaldo in 1998.
Del Piero spoke to Sky about various topics, but one in particular is set to fuel up the rivalry between the Bianconeri and Nerazzurri in the coming days, as he revisited the 1998 foul by Mark Iuliano on Ronaldo.
"It was a break-through foul by Ronaldo," explained the Juventus player. "Maybe the referee should have awarded an indirect free-kick for Inter.
"The later penalty, I did not miss it on purpose, but there was a surreal atmosphere, because at that moment I was thinking about everything except the penalty I had to take," he continued.
The Bianconeri's icon then revealed the memory he would like to banish above all else.
"That of Borussia Dortmund, where we were strong," commented Del Piero, referring to the 1996/97 Champions League final which Juventus lost 3-1.
