Project Title: Energy Managment for the Internet-of-Things Sensory Environments
Project Description:
The Internet-of-Things (IoT) is a novel design paradigm to emphasize the pervasive computing among a global networked physical objects, or things, including RFID tags, sensors, actuators, and mobile phones, etc. While these “things” collaboratively provide enhanced understanding of the environment by using intelligent interfaces, the problem of efficient energy management for these scenarios remains with sparse research exposure.
We expect students to have one or two high-quality research publication(s) in this space when the student finishes his/her internship at IBM Research.
Job Requirements:
1. Good research experience within the wireless ad hoc/mesh/sensor networks
2. Strong background of mathematical modeling and analysis abilities
3. Experienced with network simulation platforms, e.g. MATLAB, C, and Java.
4. Knowledge of QoS, MAC protocols, routing, admission control, and TCP is a big plus.
5. Good publication record is a big plus.
Location: IBM Research - China, Beijing, China
Expected Duration: 2-3 months
Start Time: from April 2011 onwards.
