Ⅰ System Engineer Intern for Mobile Presentation Service
About the team:
Yahoo! Global R&D Center in Beijing is fully owned and operated by US based Yahoo! Inc. We are looking for experienced, passionate, and self-motivated Software Development Engineers to join the Yahoo! Mobile Platforms engineering team. In this capacity, you will participate in the design and development of a cross-platform framework to support development of mobile/desktop applications utilizing web technologies like HTML5 and JavaScript. You will work with cross-functional groups, including product managers, QE and service engineers, and other engineering teams.
Requirements:
1. Master/Ph.D in computer science or related technical major/equivalent experience.
2. Good OS understanding, Linux kernel knowledge is a plus
3. Self-directed learning, fast learning.
4. Knowledge on large scale distributed system is a plus
5. Good network protocol stacking understanding, socket programming knowledge. Event driven server development is a plus
6. Team player
7. Work at least 4.5 days a week for at least 6 months.

ⅡSystem Engineer Intern for Cloud Engineering
About the Team:
Heard about Hadoop? Want to join? Hadoop was invented at Yahoo! We contributed Hadoop to the community. Now we are now taking it to the next level – by enabling it to process data at unprecedented multi-petabyte scale, applying it to real-time streaming, adding elasticity for peak loads, and getting it to be enterprise-grade ready.
We are looking for talented, self-motivated and results-driven Software Engineers (FTE and Intern) at all levels, to help us figure out the right solution architecture and best practices for using, deploying and servicing Hadoop – from workload signature characterization (personalization, targeting, spam control, search) to all the way down to the grid level efficiency (utility, performance, throughput).
You will be working in challenging, cutting-edge technology areas and be able to leverage and culminate your skills and knowledge in areas of distributed-systems, servers, scalability, performance, storage, data migration, data replication and networking – in building out world-class solutions, fully optimized for Yahoo! personalization, targeting, spam control, and search. You will have both the opportunity and the privilege to work alongside world-class
Responsibilities:
1. Design and Implement different modules of the system
2. Help write design and architecture specs
3. Help roll out the system to Yahoo! global footprint of farms
Required Qualifications:
1. Experience working with large UNIX-based distributed systems
2. Solid fundamental computer science knowledge and a desire to apply theory to solve real-world, large-scale distributed system problems
3. Understanding of engineering trade-offs to solve complex distributed systems and storage problems
4. Familiarity with development in Unix/C/C++ environment and an understanding of Object-Oriented programming methodology
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills and collaboration skills
6. An ability to work easily with other team members and to drive project to completion
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with design, implementation and performance of file-systems, content delivery and large-scale distributed systems
2. Understanding of scalability issues in design high-performance, high-availability servers
3. Familiarity with NFS, HTTP, TCP/IP is very desirable
