Background

A proprietary trading company is seeking a smart and talented individual to work on IT systems used in its automated trading platform. This position will involve maintaining and improving existing software used for data acquisition and trading as well as developing new software based on the latest business requirements. The candidate must have a Software Engineering background with a strong passion for software development and must have a good knowledge of Java. No prior financial knowledge is required. Role Description

    Building historical and real-time data acquisition systems that obtain data from various global sources.
    Developing automated trade execution systems using broker APIs.
    Writing software to help in the backtesting of trading strategies.
    Building distributed systems using the latest cloud technologies to help scale and speed up data mining and analysis.


Requirements

    A minimum of Bachelor or Masters Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering.
    Excellent programming skills with clear demonstrable past experience in Java.
    Well versed in SQL and Database System Management software such as MS SQL, Oracle, or HBase.
    Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle steps and Design Patters.
    Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
    Passion for solving problems through the use of technology.
    Detail-oriented approach to solving problems.
