Location: Beijing, China. Intel GTC Headquarters (3rd Ring North)
Description:
This role is responsible for analyzing and driving technical aspects of the HSS China Genomics project. This includes working on code optimizations and parallelization on bioinformatics and other life sciences codes/algorithms/pipelines.
You will get an opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external industry partners. As you prepare yourself for the future, this internship will train you in the ability to make high level design choices for the software structure, frameworks, protocols, algorithms and standards.
Your deliverables at the end of the internship could include solution blueprints, reference architectures, prototypes, case studies or white papers.
We would love to have you for an extended amount of time even up to 1 year (3 months minimum), giving you the chance to ramp up, learn and deliver great results.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD candidate in Computer science or Bioinformatics or Biomedical informatics.
- Experience in algorithm optimization, data structures, data, vector and task parallelization techniques.
- Data analytics experience along with statistical and algorithm development.
- Comfortable with Linux/Unix, scripting languages (python, perl, ruby), programming languages (R, C/C++) and multithreaded programming.
- Knowledge of industry standards, research workflows, privacy/security, data sharing, data management/integration and coding / vocabularies
- Good understanding of statistical methods as they apply to genomic and genome-wide genetic data.
- Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing, genotyping, gene expressions, or molecular diagnostics a definite plus
- Fluent in technical Mandarin and English is a must
Additional Desired Experience: (not a must)
- Distributed Cloud Computing Architecture, Hadoop, HBase, MapReduce, pattern matching and filtering.
- Experience working with NHS/Spine, Health exchanges
- Healthcare IT system (hospital/clinic), Information Management System
- Experience architecting and developing life sciences/bioinformatics solutions for High Performance Computing and/or Shared Memory systems.
- Experience working with or for multi-national companies, and working with clients outside of China
