Bridging Education And Mobility (BEAM) is a young nonprofit organization founded in
March 2012. BEAM is entirely student run; and our mission is to serve as a platform to
connect ideas and resources to design and implement educational projects for migrant
children. Our vision is that anyone, who has an idea for a transformational educational
project, would have the adequate funding and resources to make that idea a reality. As of
today, two major projects have emerged from the BEAM platform: Project POW! (Play-
On-Words), and Project 哥哥姐姐。 Each project is a simple yet elegant solution
designed to address a very specific issue faced by various migrant students.
Job description:
As a young social enterprise, BEAM requires its interns to be immensely versatile. Main
responsibilities will be to ensure the smooth operation of BEAM’s communication and
publicity operations. Interns will be asked to design and implement a short-term
publicity campaign, begin the process of building a long-term media strategy, assist in the
publicity of BEAM’s giving platform and our projects, and contact, meet, and manage
relationships with media partners.
Summer Media Intern is a full-time position (35-40 hours a week).
Desired skills:
o Excellent communication and writing skills in English
o Advanced Chinese: speaking, reading, and writing
o Detail-oriented, well organized, communicates efficiently via email
o Independent and self-sufficient worker
o Capable of leading a team and completing tasks set by others
o Public speaking skills: capable of engaging an audience
o Experience with publicity/advertising campaigns
o Artistically creative: designing posters and websites
o Ability to work in a small entrepreneurial environment
