Job Title:    Application Support Intern

Salary Range:     6000-10000 RMB/month

Job Summary:  Chroma Technology Corp., a world leader in the manufacture of thin film coatings, has an opening for an Application Support Intern in Chroma’s Asia office that will be exposed to all aspects of technical support/application support regarding optical filters and their uses in a unique employee-owned culture. This is for an 8-10 weeks full-time position located in Xiamen, China. Flexible start date with a preference in summer 2013.

The internship position is being setup with considerations of recruiting a full-time employee responsible for technical support to Asia customers stating in 2013 or 2014. Therefore, qualified candidate may be offered a full-time position after the internship period with internationally competitive compensations.Responsibilities:

o    Assist Applications Scientist and support personnel in providing written customer support
o    Liaise with Applications Scientist, Design/Methods and Sales to develop optical prototypes for microscopy and other applications, as needed
o    Interact with scientific community to coordinate recommendations for application-specific optics with all Asian customers
o    Develop a working knowledge of fluorescence applications
o    Assist with the development of technical information for inclusion on Chroma’s website
o    Assist with general application support tasks

Qualifications:

o    Students pursuing a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences, Optics, Applied Physics or similar technical disciplines
o    Strong interest in microscopy and fluorescence applications
o    Strong research skills
o    Experience with imaging software is a plus
o    Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
o    Self directed and detail oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
o    Ability to work effectively with all individuals/groups within the organization
o    Technical writing skills is a plus
