Internship in the field:Electricity sector and renewable energy policy and regulation in China & Germany
Location: Beijing, Chaoyang District
Internship period: from Sept. 11, 2013 (6 months or longer)Deadline for applications: Sept. 08, 2013Program Introduction:The intern will be working with the Renewable Energy Programme of GIZ China supporting the Sino-German exchange and cooperation on electricity sector and renewable energy policy and regulation. The internship placement will involve support of the following ongoing projects:
o China Wind Power Programme, Phase II:
Power sector & renewable energy policy advice, incl. electricity network regulation and technical aspects of renewable grid integration
o Climate Change Programme - Low Carbon Development of the Power Sector:
Policy and regulation to promote the development of an intelligent grid infrastructure, grid and market integration of renewables, MRV of emissions in the power sector
The internship will take place in our small 4-person team, in exchange with other projects in GIZ China covering issues such as energy efficiency, electric mobility and/or environmental protection.

The Tasks:The internship tasks includes:
o Assistance of the basic research;
o Information analysis and preparation of presentations
o Assistance of project planning and implementation:
- workplan and timeline-making and updating;
- communication among project implementers;
- meetings and workshops’ organization;
o Other tasks related:
- support the Programme Director for some tasks;
- translation & polish
- administrative support
Qualification requirements:o The candidate shall have a strong academic background and a proven track record with regard to one or more of the following topics:
energy policy and economics, electricity market regulation, renewable energy policy (esp. distributed generation), low carbon transformation of the energy sector, development of a smart grid infrastructure (incl. technology, business models & regulation), regulation of grid connection & integration of renewable energy generators, curtailment etc.
o Team player with an ability to work independently and under pressure
o Mother language: Chinese;
o Fluency in spoken and written English required; knowledge of German a plus
o Preference: under post-graduate student
o Working for 3-5 days per week;
o Internship subsidy will be provided.
