RealNetworks is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join the QA team testing the Helix Mobile Producer and Helix Server and related technologies.
Must be eager to study new technology and skills, have strong problem-solving abilities, good verbal and written communication skills.
The software test engineer will work closely with software developers and program managers in testing Helix Products. Duties mainly focus on test execution and bug reporting. Testing environment is Linux, Solaris, and Windows Server.
Qualifications include:
o Basic knowledge of computer science and technology.
o Basic knowledge of testing.
o Basic knowledge of Linux is a plus.
o Fundamental knowledge of multimedia testing is a plus.
o Fundamental knowledge of networking and streaming is a plus.
o Demonstrated ability to convey information and communicate effectively
o Motivated and eager to acquire new skills; Self learner; Able to work independently and as a team;
o Scripting knowledge is a plus. Preferably knowledge with Javascript, Shell Script or Python
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions: % of Time
1. Execute tests. Analyze test results. Report issues. 80%
2. Write test plans and test cases for RealNetworks Helix Server suite of applications. 10%
3. Investigate issues escalated from customer reports 10%
Non-Essential Functions:
o Read technical documents
o Provide feedback on technical topics
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- General office environment (fast-paced, changing environment), Work in an interior cubicle, open work environment with background noise and interruptions.
- Hear, see, and speak to participate and communicate effectively in small to medium sized meetings with hand outs, white board content, or projections.
- Flexible work hours, potentially including occassional teleconferences with team members in other locations.
