Department Description:
Within EMC’s Information Intelligence Group (IIG) Division, a customer-focused Performance Team ensures that the next generation of content management products (cloud-based) and the classic Documentum product suite operates in an efficient and optimal manner.
This team performs both downstream and upstream performance engineering activities to ensure the product meets customer requirements in aspects of performance, scalability, reliability and robustness.
Summary of the Position:
As a Performance engineer, you will be looking at all aspects of performance from a holistic angle and provide analysis and recommendations with performance and scalability in mind. The key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
o Participate in product or feature design review, provide recommendations or enhancement from performance perspective.
o Define performance plans; perform performance, scalability, stress and longevity test.
o Provide in-depth analysis for the performance issues identified. Trace down the performance issues in product code and provide code fix proposal.
o Perform system-level performance tuning.
o Perform large-scale benchmark and sizing according to typical customer usage scenario.
o PoC, design and implement for internal development projects or external projects co-owned with development team.
o Report project status to management and key stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Required:
The candidate has a minimum of relevant technical work experience in the areas below, including design/testing of distributed, fault-tolerant applications.
As part of the Performance Team, you have
o Hands-on experience in Java, XML, JDBC, Perl, SQL and PL/SQL.
o Knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle. Database Tuning is a plus.
o Knowledge in JVM tuning and performance profiling for Java applications.
o Experience with major J2EE Application Servers.
o Strong Unix, Windows and VM skills required.
o Proven analysis and troubleshooting skills.
o Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers and management.
o Good oral and written English.

Education Requirements:
o Bachelor’s degree (BS/CS; Master’s a plus)
