Biotechnology Affairs and Registration Specialist

Duty/Responsibilities
1. Timely obtain approvals for biotech crop products for import in China (70%):
· Understanding biosafety regulatory data requirements and work with biotechnology team members, regulatory operations and regulatory science to insure all necessary studies are planned in advance to enable timely data provision required in applications.
· Compile extensive regulatory biosafety data packages for product approval/registration that conform to appropriate government standards for biotech safety evaluations.
· Obtain biotech trial approvals, ensure testing materials imported and trials performed on time and finally obtain the import approvals.
2. Promote a favorable environment for import approvals of biotechnology products in China (20%):
· Understand government regulations and policies in China and build good working relationships with MOA regulators and NBC members.
· Monitor development of new regulations and coordinate comments/activities to influence outcomes and directions in a way that is science-based and favorable towards biotech commercialization.
· Track establishment of new regulations concerning biotech products and their impact on biosafety data requirements.
· Serve as technical resource to support public biotechnology acceptance/awareness efforts in China.
3. Provide technical and regulatory information to support Pioneer global business activities (10%):
· Facilitate activities related to plant biotechnology with global teams based on knowledge of regulatory resources, practices to support Pioneer business in production countries.
· Facilitate grain traders for their obtaining of biotech certificate from Pioneer and apply a certificate of grain import from MOA in China.
· Track and understand global grain trade policy and developing trends that can impact biotech import registration in China.
Education:
· MS or PhD in biological science, preferably molecular biology or agronomy
Desired competencies:

· Fluent in English – Mandarin language skills are an advantage
· Good organization and presentation skills, including written English
· Good interpersonal communication and negotiating skills
· Ability to work in a multitasking environment and meet deadlines
· Team building and cross-functional collaboration skills
· Must be available to travel as required
