2 Title
Development of internal reporting tools to support the quality department in terms of efficient issue detecting as well as initiating the corrective action process.
3 Problem description
The QEC (Quality Engineering Center) is located in Beijing, in the BBAC plant. The task of QEC is both to conduct quality analysis of defective parts from the Chinese Market as well as performing the supplier recovery process. An efficient field part analysis enables BBAC to identify the root cause of quality problems at end-customer and to prevent it from re-occurring in future.
The task of the QEC is to perform the complete quality analysis at our facility for components and major assemblies of Mercedes-Benz cars with support of the local suppliers. In addition, the findings have to be documented using a QEC Database and shared with our internal customers.
The task given to the intern is to operate and maintain the current used QEC database and to develop further applications for higher demands. Furthermore the intern is in charge for creating periodical and exceptional reports. The reports are used for weekly meetings with quality regarding departments such as Quality Management, Production, After Sales etc. and also the management. The accomplishment of the scope is based on the analysis of quality issues which is performed in the QEC directly. The databases and systems in use at the QEC China will be used.
4 Way of solution
- Understanding the product process chain from the development phase to the field return
-Operation and maintenance of the QEC template
-Development of further tool applications
-Documentation of the findings of analysis in a standardized manner
-Creation of reports regarding the issues identified
-Support the field analysis process in terms of supplier management, shipment of parts and generation of issue reports.
5 Objective of the internship
-Support the quality analysis of field engines and powertrain components
-Understand the field quality standard processes at Daimler in terms of field quality analysis and supplier recovery
-Comprehend overall Quality Management by gaining experience in Field Quality
6 Requirements
-Fluent English language spoken and written is required as the student is part of a multinational team
-Study of computer science, business information systems, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or similar branch of study
-Very good knowledge in MS Access and Excel
-Willingness to become acquainted with the QEC template independently
-High sense of responsibility and engagement
-Analytical skills, team spirit, cultural sense, communication skills
-Conformity with compliance
