INTERN - ECONOMIC AFFAIRS
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; as well as the internship period. The intern will be under supervision of the Statistics Assistant。The Intern will perform the following duties:
λ Assisting in the execution of the substantive work of the Office
λ Engaging in economic analysis with a focus on trade, international finance, and development.
Tasks may include:
λ Document, legal and internet research
λ Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
λ Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
λ Assistance during conferences
λ Working on web-presentation- Compiling statistics
λ Media analysis
λ Speech-writing

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
λ Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
λ For this internship, studies in the area of economics, international finance, international relations, Latin American studies is desirable.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable.

Interns work for five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of the Chief, Partnerships Unit.
Responsibilities
The intern will work in a team-oriented environment in the area of marketing to conduct research on various topics for the use of marketing and promoting UN media products and services to world broadcasters with the objective of bringing more partnerships, especially in Arabic-, French- and Spanish-speaking regions. He/She will provide assistance on various projects, from contributing ideas during an initial phase to putting those ideas into action, and following-up action plans.
The tasks assigned may include:
λ Identifying and contacting potential media outlet clients for UN Radio and UNTV programmes with the aim of securing broadcast/dissemination partnerships;
λ Researching and analyzing information on assigned topics/issues from diverse sources;
λ Drafting letters, brochures and newsletters, and compiling promotional kits, lists of websites, etc.;
λ Assisting in the identification of opportunities, activities and approaches for the promotion of UN media products and services, including conferences, markets, competitions and festivals;
λ Researching and identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships to enlarge the audience for UN-produced media products, including video and radio stations and networks;
λ Contributing to UN information campaigns, including the use of social media;
λ Drafting survey questions; and
λ Assisting in the organization of special events and screenings, etc.

Education

1. Applicants must:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
2. Be computer literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel or similar.
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
