Role Purpose

This role will support analysts from Green Tech Media (GTM) and the research team based in Beijing office to develop global power and renewables research content. The intern will perform primary research and build databases for a variety of topics, including energy storage, grid edge and solar. The key responsibilities include data management, extraction, and visualization activities that support the fundamental analysis efforts.  

Main Responsibilities

o    Collecting and compiling market related data from multiple sources using the company's best practices
o    Contributing to databases on renewables and emerging energy topics, including data collection, database maintenance and data quality assurance
o    Producing market analysis and driving topical research on top of the database work
o    Working with other teams in Wood Mackenzie to maintain consistency of data across teams to maintain global integrity


Key Competencies

o    Good written and verbal communication skills both in English and Chinese
o    Excellent problem solving, communication and organization skills, and attention to detail
o    Able to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive team environment
o    Competency in programming languages such as Python or R, as well as SQL database will be an advantage


Knowledge and Experience
o    Interest in and knowledge of global energy markets, including renewables and energy storage. Degree in a relevant discipline (Energy, Renewables, Engineering) would be preferred.
o    The ability to perform analytical and database work particularly using Excel and Access
o    A willingness to learn about our business from the ground up
o    Experience in Python or R would be an advantage
