VMware is seeking talented Computer Science or Computer Engineering interns to join our VMware Server BU Beijing Development team. Your duties will include:
VMware Beijing R&D has openings to hire a few interns work on the following projects.
1. WireShark Virtual Appliance (VA) for vSphere Virtualization Infrastructure.
The utility will do virtual networking monitoring and trouble shooting. It captures and analyzes VMotion, Fault Tolerant, High Availability and other infrastructure related traffic, with a user friendly interface. This will improve the Virtual Datacenter visibility and manageability.
It will be demo’ed in VMworld 2009, the largest virtualization conference in the world in Sep this year.
2. MVP (Mobile Virtualization Platform) APIs and Applications Performance Benchmarking
VMware MVP is a thin layer of software that is embedded on a mobile phone to decouple the applications and data from the underlying hardware. It is optimized to run efficiently on low power consuming and memory constrained mobile phones. The MVP currently supports a wide range of real-time and rich operating systems including Windows CE 5.0 and 6.0, Linux 2.6.x, Symbian 9.x, eCos, µITRON NORTi and µC/OS-II.
VMware Mobile Virtualization Platform will help handset vendors reduce development time and get mobile phones to market faster. In addition, end users will benefit by being able to run multiple personalities.
The project is to work with MVP Benchmarking committee on developing the MVP benchmarks, as well as doing the benchmarking on VMware’s MVP platform.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master or PhD student in top tier universities in Beijing. VMware BJ R&D is located in Tsinghua Science Park and Raycom.
- Must be able to contribute > 32 hours per week (weekends or after hours are OK). Prefer full time internship during summer months (July and August).
- Must be good at programming, especially good at C/C++ language.
- Good at Operating Systems, Computer Architecture and Computer Networking.
- Kernel development experience is preferred.
- Must have good knowledge of Linux and tools.
- Good communications skills in English, passionate on new cutting edge technologies, self driven.
