Level of Entry
Depending on your area of interest, level and stage of study, you can apply
for an internship or full time position at one of the following levels.

ANALYST
Analysts fulfil a multitude of roles across the business. To become an
Analyst at Barclays Capital you need at least an outstanding undergraduate
degree, possibly a masters. For our full time roles , work experience gained
through internships can also be an advantage. Applicants need to be highly
intelligent and numerate, with strong communication skills. Fluency in more
than one language is an asset for some roles, and the ability to work as
part of a team is essential.

ASSOCIATE
Associates work across the business and provide a combination of academic
and professional expertise. As a result, in order to join Barclays Capital
as an Associate, we expect you to have or be studying towards a Masters in
Finance or MBA at a business school, along with a period of professional
work experience in which you can demonstrate evidence of progression,
responsibility in terms of project work, teamwork and leadership,
international awareness / exposure, etc. As one of our Associates we will
give you the freedom to exercise your business skills and high level
thinking in new and interesting ways.

QUANTITATIVE ASSOCIATE
Our quantitative associates perform highly technical roles, working with and
developing the mathematical models used in our daily trading and risk
management activities. Working closely with traders and other experts they
develop the programmes and models that we need to stay at the cutting edge
of our business.

Candidates for quantitative associate positions should be studying for or
have completed a PhD or equivalent in a highly technical discipline such as
Maths, Physics or Engineering. Candidates not qualified to this level may
also be considered but you would need to be studying at a post-graduate
level and would need to demonstrate that you had achieved a sound
understanding of at least two of the following disciplines:-

Probability and stochastic calculus
Analysis
Numerical methods
Coding
In addition, your study would be primarily research driven, involving
original work, and in all cases you would have presented and defended a
thesis in front of an advisory panel.
