SCR has an immediate student internship opening in the area of fracture mechanics with a focus on developing software module for estimating the life expectation of generator rotors. A PhD or MS student with research experience is preferred. The length of internship will be 6-12 months. Based on the progress, the work might lead to paper publications and patents.
The candidate will have mechanics background and some knowledge and experience in fracture mechanics. The candidate should be able to implement algorithms in Fortran and C. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background, excellent oral and written communication skills, awareness of the state-of-the-art and the ability to realize the theory to provide working solutions for industrial applications.
