VMware is seeking talented Computer Science or Computer Engineering interns to join our VMware Storage Policy based Management team in Beijing R&D
 
Your duties will fall into one of the following two categories:
1 Policy Driven Storage Management System
Policy Driven Storage management is an important part of VMware's next generation policy-driven enterprise datacenter initiative. Its overarching goal is to simplify the management of storage in virtual environments to provide agility at scale for VM deployments. It particularly targets large deployments with a high degree of virtualization but also aims to reduce the burden of storage management for less heavily virtualized deployment that have strict storage demands. The reduction of operational expense for customers by automating storage administration and management tasks through the definition of policies is our supreme goal.
 
Concrete work includes: 
-Develop policy driven storage management system on vSphere cloud platform
-design and develop policy driven storage management system/policy driven management/vStorage API for Storage Awareness (VASA) integration 
-Fix corresponding bugs for the above two items
-Innovate some new ideas and prototype for improving scalability of system
 
2 Cloud Foundry 
Cloud Foundry is the open platform as a service project initiated by VMware. It can support multiple frameworks, multiple cloud providers, and multiple application services all on a cloud scale platform. 
Developer Productivity — Build applications with your choice of high productivity frameworks and application services. 
Open System — Choose your framework, choose your cloud, choose your application services. 
Faster Delivery — Shorten the time it takes to take your application from concept, to code, to the cloud using an open platform as a service
 
Concrete work includes:
-Research Cloud Foundry and Spring related technology
-Innovate, design and develop CloundFoundry based application prototype
 
Requirements:
-PhD or Master students majoring in Computer Science or related
-Solid knowledge on OO, middleware and Spring;
-Able to work at least 30 hours a week (including day time, night hours and weekend) for 6 months 
-Programming languages: Java. Python is a plus.
-Experience and solid knowledge in Linux
-Knowledge of Virtualization and Cloud Computing is a plus
-Must be self-starter, quick learner, hands-on style, passionate and creative 
-Excellent written and verbal English communications and organization skills
