Title: Exact controllability properties of subelliptic wave and Schrodinger equations
Abstract: We present several results concerning exact controllability and observability properties of subelliptic PDEs, i.e., PDEs driven by a subelliptic Laplacian. Our first result is that subelliptic wave equations are never controllable/observable. Then, considering various families of subelliptic operators, we explain that subelliptic Schrodinger-type equations can be controllable in any time, or never controllable, or controllable only for sufficiently large time. This last part was done in collaboration with Chenmin Sun and Clotilde Fermanian Kammerer. The tools used in this presentation come from various fields: sub-Riemannian geometry, semi-classical analysis, spectral theory and non-commutative harmonic analysis.
