Abstract:
The wave kinetic equation is a central topic in the theory of wave turbulence, which concerns the thermodynamic limit of interacting wave systems. It can be traced back to the 1920s and has played significant roles in different areas of physics. However, the mathematical justification of the theory has long been open. In this talk we present our recent work, which completely resolves this problem by providing the rigorous derivation of the wave kinetic equation. This is joint work with Zaher Hani (University of Michigan).
