Although markedly dual, the research relating to the “Sustainable Development” researchtheme corresponds with a crucial challenge for defence policy in terms of adaptation to thenew applicable regulations at national and European level.

The actions which may be undertaken within the DGA will limit “Defence” exemptions asmuch as possible while focusing on the implementation and availability of substitutioncompounds. This limitation is therefore part of an anticipated position which mostly concerns“banned” substances (toxic waste disposal) but also the substances which will disappear fromthe market because of the simple supply and demand mechanism.
