HP Labs China is now seeking global talents to fill open internships position in the research area of cloud networking and mobility.
Background
HP Labs China is a part of the Networking and Mobility Lab (NML, http://www.hpl.hp.com/research/network-and-mobility/) of HP Labs, which has research facility and teams across Palo Alto, Princeton and Beijing. We conduct fundamental and applied research that advances the state-of-the-art while driving significant business impact for HP business units in areas of data center networking, software-defined networking (SDN), wireless and mobile networking.
Internship Position Description
Job – Research
Job Type - Internship
Primary Location - Beijing, China
Schedule - Full-time
Language – English, Mandarin
Research projects are focused in areas include (but are not limited to):
o Performance benchmarking of cloud networking
o Performance optimization of cloud networking
o Wireless networking (WLAN, LTE) and applications
o Mobile systems, service, platform and applications
o Mobile context sensing and awareness
The intern students are expected to work closely with researchers to provide innovative ideas and make them real – contributing along the full range from initial novel ideas to design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer. High quality publications and patents are also expected from the innovation.
Qualification
Candidates shall be in Computer Science, electrical engineering or related disciplines. For students from China, the internship is for at least 4 months. Work schedule could be flexible based on the students’ availability. Overseas students are encouraged to apply for full-time intern positions for at least 3 months.
We are looking for internship candidates who have:
o Ability to work independently and in teams;
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
o Good systems development and software engineering skills, which include:
o Good C/C++ or Java programming skills
o Good understanding of TCP/IP network
For mobility and wireless projects, the candidates who have:
o Good knowledge or expertise in WLAN and/or LTE access network is a plus
o Knowledge or expertise in LTE core network is a plus
o Experience of building up large scale servers and performance tuning is a plus
o Knowledge and hands-on skills of Android platform from kernel to applications is a good plus
For cloud networking related projects, the candidates who have:
o Knowledge and experience of the OpenStack platform and Neutron is a good plus
o Knowledge of OpenvSwitch platform is a good plus
