Leadership Teacher
Location: Beijing, China
Me to We is a Canadian social enterprise that works with our charity partner Free The Children to provide people with better choices for a better world. Through socially conscious and environmentally friendly products (books, clothing, artisans) and life-changing experiences which include volunteer service opportunities to communities in rural China, India, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Ghana and Kenya, Me to We continuously measures its bottom line not by dollars earned, but by the number of lives we change and the positive social and environmental impact we make.
We currently have one full-time and one-part time job openings for Leadership Instructors in downtown Beijing. You will be responsible for delivering our unique brand of Leadership classes to high schools across Beijing, with occasional travel around China. There will also be opportunities to deliver speeches and to facilitate volunteer service trips both within China and internationally.
Me to We Leadership positions require team members to be uniquely skilled teachers, confident public speakers, and open minded professionals willing to adapt to new and challenging situations.
Responsibilities:
o Teaching leadership classes with 15 to 45 students for 1-3 hours at a time, classes are all pre-designed
o Leading discussions with students about current local and global issues
o Preparing, distributing, and explaining materials (promotional, program, youth resources)
o Building and maintaining relationships with youth, educators and parents
o Educated on all Me to We youth programming opportunities, ability to engage youth, educators and parents in future Me to We opportunities (examples: International Volunteer trips and Leadership Camps)
o Assisting with monitoring and evaluation procedures to measure program’s impact
o Travelling domestically to deliver classes and programming with the possibility of international travel
Skills and Qualifications:
o Capacity to plan, create, and deliver leadership focused classes to a variety of participants from diverse backgrounds and ages
o A willingness to develop a strong knowledge of social justice issues, of Chinese history and politics, and of current global events
o Charisma when working with youth, and a passion for youth leadership skill development
o Exercise good judgment when working with youth and be a positive role model for young people
o Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within given deadlines
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Ability to work well individually, in a partnership, and within a team
o Highly adaptable and flexible candidates who are comfortable with working with youth whose first language is not English
o Working knowledge of two or more languages (ideally Mandarin)
o Past experience working in youth programming
o A positive attitude
Requirements:
o Native English Speakers (note: this is not an English language instruction job but the language of instruction is in English)
o BA Degree or above (education, language, international development degrees preferred)
o TESOL or TEFL Certificate preferred
o Able to commit to six months of part time class, Monday and Friday afternoons.
o Must love working with youth

Compensation:
o Salary from 300 RMB per class of 1-1.5 hours (varies), 150 RMB for office hours and training
