Engine Technology International 2012年9月号:
1.4-LITER TO 1.8-LITER
The favorites: Audi 1.8-liter TFSI; BMW/PSA 1.6-liter
turbo; Toyota 1.8-liter gasoline-hybrid.
Winner: BMW/PSA 1.6-liter turbo.
Johann Schopp, chief engineer for Prince engine,
BMW, said: “We were wondering if we could win
this award this year because some competitors have
introduced new engines with new technologies, but
obviously our engine convinced the jury that this
was the benchmark. This is our second-generation
engine, but we’re now working on a third-generation
design – we’re not standing still!”
Laurent Chabot, project leader for gasoline engine
development, PSA Peugeot Citro?n, said: “We are
very proud to win this award and together with our
partner, we’ll continue to do a good development
job.”
Did you know: This is the most successful engine
collaboration – and it just keeps on winning; this
is the sixth time in a row that this turbo firecracker
has won its class.
One to watch: There are
numerous 1.6-liter engines
penned for release over the
next 12 months, but the
BMW/PSA engine scored so
heavily that it’s difficult to
see any other winner!
