这里的hunker也类似，如果用hunkering，所表达的含义就是他持续地处于一种缓慢地往下蹲的过程中，而用hunkered表达的含义才是他处于蹲着的状态，从站立往下蹲的这个瞬时动作已经完成了，然后保持在完成之后的蹲着的姿势

查了一下这个词在主流词典当中都是不及物动词

但网上确实有一些例句（包括影视作品），把hunkered...做状语

找到一本过时英语词典的书(如图)，其中hunkered有形容词词性。如此判断，可能是一种过时的用法，不是很规范，但确实有人这么用。
