Kondogbia: ‘wants to repay Mancini’
By Football Italia staff
Inter’s Geoffrey Kondogbia ‘wants to repay Roberto Mancini’s faith’ and likes comparisons to Yaya Toure.
The France international was the Nerazzurri’s biggest signing last summer but has struggled to make an impression in Serie A so far.
The former Monaco midfielder has been compared to Manchester City’s Toure for his style of play and he admitted it’d be ‘a dream’ to play alongside the Ivorian.
“The 38m? This is a situation I know and that I’ve already experienced; when I was 21 I went to Monaco for 20m and so in July I knew what I was going to face,” Kondogbia told Corriere dello Sport.
“Psychologically it has never affected me.
“Every league has its own style of play. Serie A is the most tactical, but you use your head in Spain and France as well.
“Mancini? He’s a Coach who has given me a lot of faith, he was the one who convinced me to come to Inter. I want to do well to repay him.
“Comparisons to Yaya Toure? I like them a lot, but now it’s up to me to defend, attack and score like Toure. I have the right characteristics. But now I must work and improve because I’m only 23.
“Teammates with Toure at Inter? It’d be great, a real dream.
“Do I ever regret choosing Inter over Milan? The league table answers that for me…I would make the same decision again, it was a natural choice that I haven’t even thought about.”
