BT China Research Centre Intern Opportunity
Internship Programme 2013
British Telecom (BT) is one of the world's leading providers of communications solutions and services operating in 170 countries. Principal activities include networked IT services, local, national and international telecommunications services, and higher-value broadband and internet products and services. BT Research builds sustainable leading edge technology and services to deliver technological advantage to BT. The research programme provides focused world-class levels of innovation, and a knowledge base in relevant technologies that underpins the strategy and plans for the company.
BT became the sole sponsor of Advanced ICT Lab in School of Economics & Management on 20th September 2012, which is a milestone after years of collaboration between Tsinghua University and BT.
Based in Beijing, BT China Research Centre (CRC) is an innovation corridor, bringing BT’s innovations to China, at the same time reflecting Chinese innovations and market knowledge back to BT. Summer Internship Programme 2013 is part of CRC’s efforts on collaborating with Chinese universities on joint research and finding out outstanding talents. All the research project assignments for the intern students are the challenges in real business environment and BT provide one-to-one mentoring on each project. The Programme will provide candidates with precious working experience in the world leading MNCs.
This summer, BT CRC is offering 5 posts for the intern students:
1)Business Research (2 posts)
2)Technical Research (3 posts)
Key responsibilities:
1)To understand BT project owner’s requirements and ensure they are met.
2)To deliver project work to time , as agreed with BT project owner.
3)To report progress of project work to the project manager on the weekly basis through Telepresence, live meeting or audio calls.
4)To provide Consultancy on his/her area of expertise to the assigned project as required.
Qualifications:
University level: 3rd year undergraduate or above (MBA included)
Requirements:
1)Have interests in the innovations in Information and Communication Technologies.
2)Need to be able to speak, listen, and read in English. Good English writing skills preferred.
3)Good communication skills.
4)A team worker, fast learner, enthusiastic, self-motivated with attention to detail.
5)Can think out of the box, and is innovative and creative.
6)Have enough free time; be able to work continuously for 2~3 months starting from early July 2013, and work 4-5 days a week either at Advanced ICT Lab (Room 135, Wei Lun Building) or BT Beijing office.
Specific requirements for Technical Research posts:
1)Degrees in Computer Science and Engineering or related fields
2)Strong programming skills (especially e.g. Java, J2EE (servlet, hibernate, log, etc), Database (mysql), CSS+ JavaScript+ HTML, Web UI & Interactive Design)
3)Experiences in web portal design
