Database Internals Sustaining Software Engineer
Job Description
Work on an agile team that develops enhancements and bug fixes to the Greenplum MPP Database and the Postgresql open source database. Projects include system management and monitoring of the database as well as bug fixes and enhancements to the core database engine. Test-driven development and automated test development are used to ensure high quality of the software delivered. Projects are prioritized based on customer requests and deliver critical new functionality into the products. The agile team works together in close collaboration and builds a strong bond within the team members. Team members are expected to do continual learning through studying of source code and books in order to gain knowledge and expertise on the field of big data and database internals.
Required Skills
· Expert C language development
· Database internals theory and knowledge
· SQL language theory and programming
· Linux platform experience
· Desire to continue to learn more about database internals
· Knowledge or experience with agile development methodologies
· Team player and self-motivated for success
· Masters in Computer Science or related field
· Understand concepts of automated unit and system testing
· Willingness to learn python and Go languages and do work in these languages in addition to C
