世情薄，人情恶，雨送黄昏花易落。
晓风干，泪痕残。欲笺心事，独语斜阑。
难，难，难！
It’s a pitiless world
of heartless folks.
In a shower sending off the dusk,
petals easily fall.
Tears dried in a morning breeze--
their stains remain.
A sheet of paper to put down my sorrow?
A soliloquy by the railings to vent my woe?
--Neither will work.

人成各，今非昨，病魂常似秋千索。
角声寒，夜阑珊。怕人寻问，咽泪装欢。
瞒，瞒，瞒！
Our bonds severed,
our past is no more,
leaving two sick souls suspended
like swing ropes.
A horn chokes chilly--
another night draws to a close.
Afraid of inquiries, I swallow my tears forcing a smile
--a mask I must wear.

一位经常在国外书刊、诗集发表中英诗歌翻译作品的老哥建议这样修改的，虽然我不是很喜欢，但据说这是近年来国外出版社刊登译诗作品的惯用形式，即尽量不要押韵、感叹句，每节开头一句不要用fragment sentences
