叠甲：建议尽快跳过的意思是要避免它低水平重复的缺陷，不是说这东西完全不能用，只要娃能学怎么学都行。本版时间宝贵，不要为怎么学英语吵架浪费时间，英语不值得。

为什么建议尽快跳过Raz：

当孩子把Raz 打穿，读到Z的时候，文本难度约等于哈利波特第一本的开头，并且比万物简史之类直接低一档。我注意到这件事，是因为我娃在读哈利波特的同期说Raz太简单了，当时的英语学习投入在1500小时左右。

以下是 RAZ Level Z的一本，讲巴拿马运河的。我挑了个看起来长点的句子。Lexile给这一段的难度评级是1210L - 1400L。实际难度读者应该自己能感觉出来。全段最有技术含量的部分大概是使用了“it was not until”。其它都是平铺直叙的简单陈述句。

That was the year gold was discovered in a streambed at Sutter’s Mill in California, sparking a great westward migration of hopeful fortune seekers from the East. 这是新概念2 第60课 大概全书60%难度的地方。讲英吉利海峡的，话题上面的Raz很相似。Lexile Range 810L - 1000L。这一段用词不难，然而几乎每句话都在换时态，另外还有一个很经典的虚拟语气。

想把英语作为一门语言学好的话，能跳过Raz，尽量跳。Raz其实就是个长得像故事一样的单词表，本质上跟“读故事背GRE单词”之类的东西差不多。它的文本要服务单词，于是就不能给（已经为了单词而struggle 的）读者们增加额外的语法难度，因此文本是怎么简单怎么来，非常的乏善可陈。
